Dara Puspita - “Pataya Beach”
Dara Puspita (meaning “Flower Girls”) was Indonesia’s most successful girl band in the 60s and also one of the very few who played their own instruments. They drew influence from popular Western rock and roll bands like The Beatles and Rolling Stones and created their own tropical garage sound that is not far off from what we hear from bands today. You can read more about them over at Garage Hangover.
